In a bid to get game creators to join its Azure cloud computing service, Microsoft, known for products like Office 365, has introduced a range of numerous new programs and services aimed exclusively at gamers.

The first one is Microsoft’s Azure Game Development Virtual Machine, which enables game creators to test and produce games in a production-ready cloud infrastructure.

Game creators will be ready to start working quickly with Microsoft’s virtual machines (VMs), which arrive already included with tools such as Unreal Engine, Perforce, Incredibuild, Visual Studio, and Blender, as well as software development kits (SDKs) such as Microsoft Game Development Kit (GDK), PlayFab, and DirectX.

Whilst game developers may utilize the pre-built Game Development Virtual Machine to set up game dev workstations or establish servers, they could also use a configurable Game Dev VM to create their own bespoke environments.

“We’re determined to make Azure the cloud of preference for games developers, so anticipate to see extra investments in the future, such as extra effective compute and Graphics processing units; tighter partner integrations with improved cloud-native verification; improved end-to-end examples and documentation on operating your game dev pipeline in Azure; good alternatives for cloud pipelines utilizing Xbox development, and much more,” Principal Software Engineer for Azure, explained.

Microsoft which is known for products like Microsoft Teams additionally confirmed that its ID@Azure program, which debuted as an invitation-only limited test in December of 2021, has now become freely accessible.

This new program builds on Microsoft’s earlier ID@Xbox program, which enabled independent game creators to self-publish digital games on Xbox One.

ID@Azure, like ID@Xbox, is a free initiative aimed to give Microsoft tools and infrastructure to game creators so that they may create games that can operate on any platform. At the same time, the program provides up to $5,000 in Azure credits, a free Azure PlayFab Standard Plan lasting up to 2 years, GitHub code examples, training modules, Azure Rapid Response assistance, and other benefits.

Though the company provides a plethora of tools and resources to game creators, all of their efforts on Azure will assist the corporation to enhance its cloud computing service.
