Mozilla has officially launched Firefox 89 today for Mac, Windows, and Linux with the changes also applying to the latest iOS and Android builds. The update sees Firefox gain a fresh new design, easier to use tabs, streamlined toolbar, optimized iOS experience, and more.
Firefox decided to discuss about the update in their recent blog post by stating that
“In today’s major release, Firefox sports a fresh new design that gets you where you’re going online, fast and distraction-free. And since we’re all about privacy, we’re also expanding integrated privacy protections in Firefox, so you feel safe and free to be yourself online thanks to fewer eyes following you across the web”.
Firefox listened to user comments and examined how people really use their browsers to improve for a more seamless experience with the redesign. They mentioned in their blog that according to their users Distractions, unnecessary clicks, and wasted time were all on their minds. Hence, the new design is straightforward, contemporary, and quick, and it provides a wonderful experience for individuals who use Firefox the most.
Firefox promotes the new look as “bright and buoyant” for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and other devices, with an all-new icon set and “crisp” typography for a modern feel.

Toolbar:
Every web visit begins with a visit to the toolbar. It’s where you input a URL to get anywhere on the internet. It’s what you look at the most in Firefox after the content of a web page. The new toolbar is simple and clutter-free, allowing you to quickly access to the important information.
Menus:
Menus are where you’ll find the most important Firefox activities and commands. Through the three bars menu in the top right or by right-clicking to activate it on your computer screen, we’ve condensed superfluous options to decrease clutter and make it more logical. Our menus were restructured and simplified in the new style to put the greatest activities at your fingers immediately.
Firefox also observed that more over half of users have four or more tabs open at any given moment, which it utilized to inform the tab redesign.
Tabs:
Tabs have been redesigned to be softly curved and float over the toolbar. It’s a fun update that also serves as a reminder that tabs aren’t always static. So go ahead and take those tabs, move them around, and rearrange them whatever you like. Tabs now light a little brighter while they’re active.
When it comes to the iPhone and iPad, Mozilla claims that the new Firefox is “optimized for faster searches, navigation, and tab viewing,” with “key activities now requiring fewer steps for faster searches, navigation, and tab viewing.”
